What Is A Driving Records Search?


A Driving Records Search will access Motor Vehicle Department Data to determine if a Driver

License is valid and will list any violations for a period of usually 3 to 7 years depending on the

state.


Why Should I run A Driving Record Search?


If an employee will be driving a company or personal vehicle for business purposes, it is important to validate the driving record of the individual and that the driver’s license is valid.

Many companies run a driving records search on all employees as it may tell them more about the

person and their character.

By searching an applicant’s driving record, you could learn about:

  • A suspended license
  • Failures to appear in court
  • Arrest Warrants

In addition, drug and alcohol related driving offenses, such as driving under the influence and

possession of drugs, might serve as a warning of potential substance abuse problems that can

affect job performance. Please note that the California Motor Vehicle Department requires that reports may only be ordered within other searches such as a criminal check.

In most States you can get results instantly after you put in the request. In a few States it can take

3-4 business days.
